County Coroner

The Mitchell County Coroner keeps death records for individuals who passed away in Mitchell County.  The Coroner determines a deceased person’s time and cause of death, often in the case of sudden or unexpected deaths.  The office identifies bodies, notifies the next of kin, and returns personal belongings to the family.  They also work with Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office to investigate suspicious or violent deaths.  The Mitchell County Coroner creates death records that can be used in criminal investigations to resolve insurance claims or to monitor Mitchell County public health.
