Mitchell County Schools are committed to continuously reviewing, updating, and strengthening their academic programs. Our schools believe it is extremely important to provide students with top quality professionals so that each and every student has the knowledge and skills to compete in the world today. Our schools also believe that it is important to have well round students by offering strong athletic programs, and active student clubs activities.

Pelham City School System
The mission of the Pelham City Board of Education is to provide a quality public education for the children of our community. Pelham City Schools will make available the resources needed and provide the leadership to enable each student to reach his/her fullest potential as an individual.

Baconton Community Charter School
A small community charter school with emphasis on the basic using Direct Instruction (Siegfried Engelmann–SRA Reading Mastery and Saxon math). Flexible class sizes and a gifted and talented program allow for more individualized academics.

Westwood Schools
Westwood is a private college preparatory school. Over Westwood’s thirty plus year history over 95% of the students have gone to college. Westwood’s test scores are competitive nationally and a wide range of sporting activities, extra-curricular activities, and courses are available. Gymnastics, piano, tennis, ballet and tap dancing are available on campus from excellent instructors. This is addition to the Spanish, computer, and art classes offered to all students at Westwood. Southwest Georgia Technical College, a unit of the Technical College System of Georgia, is a public two-year technical college with the mission to provide learner-centered and high-quality services, courses, and programs through traditional and distance delivery methods, at both on-campus and off-campus locations, serving primarily the citizens of Thomas, Grady, and Mitchell Counties.
